Over a hundred residents of Brekum in the Brong Ahafo Region have benefited from free maternal service.
The one-day screening exercise was part of the Vodafone Ghana foundation activities to provide health screening for the Ghanaian citizenry. The program is dubbed “Healthfest”
During this quarter’s event, Divine Mother and Child foundation, a Non Governmental Organization, which is a partner to the Healthfest provided Scan for pregnant women, gynecology abdominal and pelvic scans to several women in the town

The foundation next moved to Dim Sakabo in Afram plains in the Eastern Region to continue their work of providing maternal services. Several other women benefited from the organization’s services at Dim Sakabo. It was a sight to behold as a pregnant woman rode on an old bicycle from her village to partake access the free services.

Divine Mother and Child foundation is a based in Koforidua and has the aim to prevent maternal and child mortality through mobile services.
The services, scans and sometimes counseling are all offered to would-be mothers at no cost.
The organization identifies pregnancy related complications early enough for prompt interventions.
The Executive Director of the foundation, Edmund Duodu Atweri advised women to seek antenatal services early enough.
He added that, if they experienced any unusual symptoms during pregnancy, they should report to the nearest health facility early enough for prompt attention.
With the spate of pockets of sometimes avoidable complications among pregnant women in some parts of the country, the organization hopes to help in reaching the “unreached” with free and crucial maternal services.
Beneficiaries of the services also received counseling in basic maternal care at no cost.
Speaking to healthylifegh the Executive Director pledged his fullest support and continuous partnering for the Healthfest and added that maternal care was a passion.
